The crossovers purpose is to give you every opportunity to RIDE MORE™. These machines encompass three packages, each with a bias for the environments you’ll spend the majority of your time exploring: The CrossTrek™ is a performance machine capable of floating across fields of powder and groomed trails. The CrossTour is a touring sled that satisfies you all the way to your destination, be it 5 or 500 miles away. And the High Country, well, it loves the steep and deep. Mountains or no mountains, the High Country excels in the powder.
The lightest, strongest and most capable chassis we’ve ever built incorporates aluminum extrusions, stampings, forgings and castings in a design that sets the standard for high-tech construction. A forged steering housing ties together many of the load-bearing chassis components. The lightweight chassis is extremely rigid. Whether you’re off to the races or on to your favorite trail system, nothing carves out more fun.
The ProTour™ chassis is a longer version of the ProCross™ design. The front end of the chassis is the same as the ProCross — same structure, spars, A-arms and steering design. The tunnel is molded from a single piece of aluminum, with reinforced steel running boards. Riders will enjoy a low center of gravity, providing excellent stability, making it ideal for 1-up or 2-up excursions.
Built ultra-rigid with neutrally balanced rider position, the ProClimb™ chassis incorporates stampings, forgings and castings to optimize the inherent strengths of each. Its design ties together the load-bearing chassis components, eliminating chassis flex and fatigue. The ProClimb chassis is the backbone of the High Country, featuring a completely redesigned front suspension and a refined FLOAT-ACTION Rear Suspension.
The geometry of the front suspension directs load paths to the center of the chassis. This configuration gives the front end an aggressive look and equally aggressive handling characteristics. The lightweight, one-piece forged aluminum spindle is designed for strength. Ball joints prevent friction and create better rider feedback. Overall, this design makes these sleds highly maneuverable in all conditions.
The High Country received a makeover up front this year. The new single-post, angled-back spindles gave us an opportunity to shave off 2.4 pounds while maximizing quality and strength. Countersteering? The new 27° caster angle allows your inside ski to sit at the optimal position while sidehilling to cut through snow. This is ideal for when the boondocker in you takes over. What’s more, the single-post, forged aluminum spindle achieves less contact area, regardless of steering angle, thus minimizing drag.
The SLIDE-ACTION Rear Suspension brings race-day technology to everyday riding. Our U-shaped slot fits over a fixed shaft to allow a crucial half-inch of sliding movement. As the rear transfer blocks are engaged, the free-acting front arm follows the terrain, keeping your skis firmly planted over bumps, and during aggressive cornering and acceleration. This significant detail controls ski lift during acceleration.
The FLOAT-ACTION rear suspension features a tri-hub rear axle system employing a FOX FLOAT®3 rear-arm shock paired with the Arctic Cat® (IFP) front-arm shock. When you’re the kind of person who likes riding both on and off trail, adjustability is exactly what you’re looking for.
This 180-class HP Turbo Triple 4-stroke engine packs seamless power delivery in order to give you better handling, more ride control and immediate throttle response. Response like this can only come from an innovative compact exhaust manifold that transfers energy with unprecedented efficiency and immediacy. The power-to-weight ratio is untouchable. No other mass-produced snowmobile engine can match this beast’s output.
Still the king of the 800s, this 794cc, liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine produces 160-class horsepower. It features a lightweight crankshaft, batteryless EFI, APV electronic exhaust valves, Exhaust Pipe Temperature Sensor™ and weight-saving engine-reverse technology.
Clean, reliable and excellent fuel economy. The 1049cc 4-stroke triple produces 135-class-leading horsepower, and the EFI optimizes performance in all temperatures and altitudes.
This quick-revving, 125–class horsepower C-TEC2 power mill is the product of a world-class engine assembly plant — ours. The electronic oil pump can accurately meter fuel/oil ratios not only by RPM, but also by altitude, dramatically reducing oil and fuel consumption.
In addition to improving performance, it’s got to be lightweight and strong. Feast your eyes on the brand-new TEAM® Rapid Response II driven clutch. What makes these clutches so superior? It comes down to eliminating slippage so your belt and clutch temperatures stay cooler. That’s why we redesigned the Torque Control Link™ (TCL) to keep your belt and clutches more aligned. The result is reduced temperature so more power can be transferred to your track. And for you racers out there, tuning your clutches to meet your needs can be done quickly and easily.
The Arctic Drive System features a lightweight magnesium chaincase. For 2016 we’ve incorporated a large TEAM® Rapid Reaction BOSS driven clutch and TEAM Rapid Response™ drive clutch.
