The CATALYST™ platform transformed the experience of mountain, trail and crossover riders alike. Now with the refined 858 engine, you can push the limits even further with bigger power, smoother performance and the industry’s easiest-to-ride package.

Based on decades of innovation, the 858 engine was built by Arctic Cat for Arctic Cat. Designed specifically for the CATALYST platform, the 858's proprietary design enhances power, agility and control. From working around the centerline steering to integrating components for weight reduction and increased performance, no compromises were made in pursuit of the ultimate ride.
The 858cc engine provides all the horsepower and airflow you need for superior performance. A refined air intake system improves sealing at the lower airbox, reducing snow intrusion and maximizing consistency. Multiple under-hood inlets prevent snow ingestion, while our patented exhaust valve design stays tight to the piston as it moves. This delivers smoother exhaust port flow through a wider RPM range on both primary and auxiliary ports — and cleaner emissions in all conditions.
Compared to Arctic Cat’s 794cc engine, the 858 delivers 11% more power and torque — and in a package that’s 4% lighter. This gives you an optimal power-to-weight ratio for quicker acceleration and a more responsive, pulse-pounding ride. Arctic Cat used an 85mm bore while increasing to a 75.6mm stroke to achieve more horsepower and deep, bottomless torque that pulls hard and smoothly through the entire RPM range. In MY26, recalibrated fueling and ignition enhance response across more of that range, making every squeeze of the throttle feel even more connected.
The centralized mass and low center of gravity work with the CATALYST platform to provide precision and control unlike anything you’ve experienced. The innovative laydown engine design achieves the best mass centralization of any snowmobile on the market while staying lightweight and compact. And with updated engine mounting in MY26, vibration is further reduced — boosting rider confidence and comfort mile after mile.
The CATALYST platform was designed to be durable and easy to service, and the 858 engine is no exception. With fewer parts, a revised crankcase mounting system, and robust snow flap reinforcement, it’s stronger, sturdier and easier to maintain. With the easily removable, completely tool-less plastic panels on CATALYST snowmobiles, you can quickly access critical components to admire the beauty beneath the surface.

Calibrated Suspension

The CATALYST platform takes a centralized design ideal for all riding styles and pairs it with legacy suspension and steering to provide a unique experience for each segment. In the trail and crossover families, the driveshaft and the front and rear suspension have been positioned further rearward to optimize sled balance and increase ground clearance. By lowering the upper A-arms and shortening the spindles, this new design will give you a more position-reactive vehicle with improved cornering. With ratio steering paired with progressive steering, this innovative design offers a lighter, tighter feel that uses leverage first to mimic the feeling of power steering.

On the mountain side, the driver position is optimized for flotation. The lower center of gravity on the CATALYST platform works in tandem with the rider to improve climbing, carving and descent. It also features centerline vertical steering for a lighter, more responsive experience. This is achieved by integrating the new intake, exhaust and chassis. Moreover, the new spindles and front suspension have both been optimized for off-trail maneuvers while remaining capable on-trail.
